Alumni Spotlight: Tala Katarina Ram (’11)

Tala graduated from ISS in 2011, and spent a year serving full time with a socio-economic development program building capacity in young people for social impact in Norway.  She then studied at UC Berkeley, pursuing a major in English, and another in Public Policy and Economics. When she graduated she moved back to Europe to pursue a job at Google in Dublin, but took a very unconventional turn at the last moment and ended up in Brussels at the United Nations office of the Baha’i International Community instead, which is where she has been for the past two years. At the BIC, Tala works as a policy officer to the EU on the migration, social cohesion, and human rights discourses in the civil society spaces around the EU institutions

“My time at ISS helped develop a strong value-driven framework that has guided many decisions, and nurtured the desire to contribute to positive and enduring change. The care, the sincerity, and the fundamental values that being part of this community and the IB programme instils has been foundational in ways I didn’t fully appreciate until after graduation.”
