WHAT SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE? WHO CAN APPLY?

100% Scholarships (Grade 10-12/Year 11-13/Vg 1-3)

The Linda and Len Duevel scholarships will typically be given to one boy and one girl. These are full (100%) academic merit scholarships covering Grades 10, 11 and 12. As well as academic merit there is also a focus on student contribution to their school community. The scholarships are available for students seeking admission into Grade 10 at ISS (Norwegian Vg1 equivalent) and who are not currently ISS students. Students of any citizenship who are Greater Stavanger Region residents are welcome to apply.

WHAT DOES THE SCHOLARSHIP INCLUDE?

The Linda and Len Duevel Scholarship will pay the 100% full tuition. It will provide all the usual resources/materials required for the various courses and bus transport for the students to and from school using the school’s established bus routes. It will not pay for external examination fees, school lunches or overseas travel.

WHAT AM I APPLYING TO STUDY?

Students selected for the Linda and Len Duevel scholarship will be offered a foundation course in Grade 10 (Vg1), preparing them for becoming part of the school’s International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme when they enter Grade 11.

Students who complete the IB Diploma at ISS will also earn an ISS High School Diploma. Earning an IB Diploma also grants Norwegian ‘Studiekompetanse.’ ISS graduates attend universities all over the globe, including Norway.

WHICH IBDP COURSES SHOULD I SELECT?

Students can choose courses from the selection offered by ISS. Please see the IBDP/IGCSE and Curriculum pages for further details. The courses chosen will be different for each student depending on individual strengths and interests. The ISS High School team assists students in scheduling their courses. Students interested in obtaining loans and stipends for university study should take time to check the criteria and availability of these from Statens Lånekasse.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO ATTEND ISS?

ISS is an international community with a diverse and open-minded student body. Currently, the students at ISS represent approximately 50 different nationalities.

Our students have the opportunity to further enrich their learning at the local level through community involvement or at the global level through educational and service learning travel.

There are a wide variety of sports, in addition to arts/music and many co-curricular activities focused on service learning, in the Viking co-curricular programme. Many of these activities, such as NECIS (athletics) and MUN (international relations), involve interaction and participation with other international schools.

Most important of all, ISS has a highly motivated and qualified teaching staff to help students reach their full potential. ISS students are supported by their teachers – we aim to create a positive community where students and teachers alike respect and care for one another.
