Yale MUN Europe took place 15-18 March in Brussels. There were 27 delegations represented and 238 students participating. The participants came from all over the world, as the brand of Yale attracts interest, and included USA private schools, International schools, and Brazilian Private Schools as well as organisations like All American MUN, The Australian group, and an NGO called Debate for Peace (with delegates from Israel – both Arab and Jewish students – and Kosovo).
Run by Yale students, and based on the US MUN model this was a brand new experience for our MUN students, and our 7 students had steep learning curve, but did an outstanding job, representing the school and their countries in various fora. The crisis committees offered one different opportunity – a role play of the 1848 German Frankfurt Assembly writing the German Constitution. Other committees were more traditional MUN experiences, dealing with ongoing political challenges. This was a great new and enriching experience for both students and teachers.
