National drawing competition winner from ISS in the news worldwide

In the fall of 2019, the European Commission announced its 2nd Galileo Drawing Competition with the help of the Norwegian Space Agency and NRK Super. The competition was open to residents of Norway between the ages of 6-11. Over 20 students entered their projects from ISS. By the deadline of January 31, 2020, a total of 516 entries were submitted by primary school children across Norway.

The winner of the entire competition was ISS Grade 3 student Shriya Salgarkar! One of the next three Galileo satellites, planned to be launched in 2021, will be named after Shriya. Three other students’ work, Sarah in Grade 4, Cadence in Grade 3 and Hugo in Grade 2 were judged to be in the top 30 best entries, all of which were on display at the Norwegian Space Agency following the award ceremony and press conference.
